Jan 13, 2007 (Interfax) - A Russian presidential decree dated January 11 and amending the government regulations regarding the way precious metals and gemstones can be brought into Russia and taken out lifts restrictions on taking natural diamonds and precious metals out of Russia in the export customs regime. The president's decree stipulates that the exports of natural diamonds from Russia (except unique natural diamonds and natural diamonds classified as bort and drilling, regardless of their size and the level of processing, diamond powder sized up to -3+2), refined platinum and platinum group metals in the form of ingots, plates, dust, and granules, native nuggets of precious metals, rough precious metals, ores and concentrates of precious metals, raw materials containing precious metals, and scrap and waste precious metals can be exported without quantitative restrictions based on licenses issued by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry.
