The Rapaport Diamond prices list is usually in hands of a dealer, there are some dealers online where you can get a Rapaport price in exchange for information's about yourself like email, phone number, etc... expect to be contacted by representatives... Dealers usually give a discount from 5% -30% on the Rapaport prices.

Diamonds may last forever, but their prices change almost weekly. A diamond is valued by 4 things, color, clarity, cut and, carat weight.

Fancy colored diamonds, such as red, blue and yellow diamonds, are priced separately from the traditional colorless type. They usually bring high extremely high prices, due to their rarity. DeBeers, the diamond cartel, controls two-thirds of the world's diamond trade. They buy a majority of the world's raw diamonds directly from the mines. They then sell to select, authorized "sight holders" (major diamond cutting firms). The price is fixed and non-negotiable. Even diamonds that are not marketed by DeBeers follows their pricing.

The reality is that usually wholesalers speak to each other about prices in terms of the percentage discount to the Rap Sheet. How much of a discount to Rap? It really depends on the quality of Diamond you are looking for. On the wholesale market, Diamonds of some qualities are sold at a deeper discount to Rap than other qualities. There are market fluctuations which change according to supply and demand.

Rapaport Diamond Report is composed of sheets of price lists (see the example on the left and below). These price lists are accessible only by subscription, for the professionals. The color of these sheets is always red in order to avoid and to limit photocopies or faxes which become black. There are various lists according to the weight (from 0.01 to 5.99 carats) and the shape. Price rises are printed bold (example below: G-VVS2 to G-VS2) and falls are in bold italics (example below: E-SI2 to E-I1).

Because cut/shape, fluorescence, symmetry and polish are not included on the list there can be an important variations in price.
