Museum of Natural History Has colored Diamond ExhibitThe American Museum of Natural History in New York is exhibiting 25 diamonds in the museum's Morgan Memorial Hall of Gems.
Diamonds in the display include an intense pink brilliant set in gold with small pink diamonds, all from the Argyle Mine in Australia; a round, brilliant-cut, 5.40 ct. diamond pendant surrounded by 20 sapphires in white gold; five vivid-grade colored diamonds (blue-green, orange-yellow, purplish-pink, blue, and orange) from the Olympia Diamond Collection, on loan from Scarselli Diamonds; lab-grown diamonds from Apollo Diamond Corp., created by chemical vapor deposition; and lab-grown diamonds from Gemesis Corp., produced by the high-pressure, high-temperature method. The exhibit runs through January 2010.
