Colored stones have plenty of flash, but that doesn't mean you'll need lots of cash

Diamonds might be a girl's best friend, but colored stones, whether they're precious, semiprecious or faceted glass, are a hot look in jewelry this summer.

Whether or not the stone is real or the metal is precious, a ring, bracelet, earrings or necklace with colored stones makes a fashion statement.

Various colors are combined in one piece, and others stand alone. Diamonds or clear crystals and colored stones make a flashy combination.

With all the white, black and neutral-colored clothing being worn this summer, jewelry with colored stones is the needed hint of color.

You can spend a little or a lot, but don't think the amount of bling depends on the price tag.

You can find this look with faux stones and gold for as little as $10 at Wichita-area department stores.

Of course, many of the pieces with real stones are breathtaking, but imitations can also offer color and sparkle.
