Too bad the million dollars' worth of diamonds Flint native LaKisha Jones wore on Tuesday's "American Idol" weren't forever.

All that bling -- a $250,000 diamond brooch, a $150,000 26-carat diamond necklace, a $10,000 five-carat ring and bracelets adorned with nearly 100 carats of diamonds -- was on loan for one evening from Kwiat Diamonds in New York.

"We're thrilled we had the opportunity," said Greg Kwiat of the family-owned company. "We love LaKisha. She's a phenomenal talent."

Jones, who sang the Shirley Bassey classic "Diamonds Are Forever" on this week's show, is still only a Top 10 finalist but she's already beaten last year's "Idol" winner, Carrie Underwood, when it comes to Kwiat gems.

Underwood was loaned a mere $850,000 worth of Kwiat diamonds to wear at the 40th Annual Country Music Awards last November. About 800 of the jewels were interlaced with the straps on her gown, and two diamond clip earrings and a diamond brooch were fastened to the dress, according to Kwiat's Web site, www.kwiat.com.
