DIAMONDS STOLEN FROM ANTWERP DIAMOND MUSEUM EXHIBIT
December 02, 2003 found at tacyltd.com
Some
US$1 million worth of diamonds were stolen from the “Art Deco - diamond jewels
1920-1939 - Glamorous gems for the woman of the world” temporary exhibition at
the Antwerp’s Diamond Museum.
Thieves,
posing as museum visitors, smashed two display cases with sledgehammers and took
the diamonds, selecting classic jewels with many diamonds, rather than more
artistic creations that would be harder to sell.
Sabine
Denissen, Curator at the museum described the robbery as ‘professional and
well prepared’.
